Oh my.....Versailles.....

Good EARLY Thursday Morning!
Grab a cup o' coffee or your BOC (beverage of choice) and let me entertain you with my latest project.

I'll get it off my chest right now......I SO want to keep this one!
I mean it!  But I carted "her" off to Restored~Home yesterday and enacted the "14 Day Rule."
If she is still there on October 5th I am going back to get her and she will be MINE!
That's fair, don't ya think?

Here "she" is before....

She was a Craigslist rescue.....
some people rescue animals......me, I rescue furniture!

Love the details......

Not lovin' the 4 (or more) coats of THICK, white latex paint.

Ewwwwwww.....the lady that was holding her hostage sold her said she had started to refinish her and then decided against it.....
(I got a good chuckle outta that!)
No doubt, it is not for the "faint hearted" when it comes to stripping layers of paint....
but it is OH.SO.WORTH.IT!

This is what I ended up with after the ooooohy, goooooey, marshmallowy, GOOP that I scraped off for a few hours....
(yes, I said HOURS.)

Not too shabby.....
(sorry for the studio garage quality pics)
I almost left the top this way and just waxed but soon decided on a coat of Walnut stain.

Now we're gettin' somewhere.....

I really labored over color on this piece.
My head kept telling me to use the new ASCP Pure White with heavy antiquing but my heart said
"Oh my......Versailles"......and for those of you who know me......
I generally follow my heart......
***sigh***
.....don't be a hater.....

I made the right choice and here she is now making her runway debut!

Go ahead.....swoon.....she is a LOOKER!

I added Old White to the detail work....

and dark wax just took them to the next level.
Don't you think?

Can you believe that my lamps were still in the shoppe?
I was shocked actually!  Everything else was gone after the weekend.
Maybe that is God's way of enacting my "14 Day Rule."
Shhhhhh.....don't tell Mr. YBR about that.....

I tend to be an "original hardware kind of girl" but after this makeover she really deserved some BLING! She took a real beating from Before to After.
Icing on the cake, I think!

Oui vey.....be still my little heart.....

This is definitely LURVE.....

Oh My.....Versailles........ASCP ROCKS yet another one!

Thanks for letting me share......

I did a little "rescue work" again yesterday....ya know, Craig and I have a thing for one another.

Look who I drug home.....I mean RESCUED.....

It's a BOY!
Sadly, this IS a good picture......it was his profile pic from CL.
He looks ALOT worse in person.
***smile***

I probably should have walked away.......
My head said, "Run.....too much work and a BIG chance on resale"....
but my heart said "Take him.....he needs a chance to shine."

and we all know who I usually listen to......

Blessings Abundant.....

  4. You did a good job on the piece but the knobs are totally wrong. I would try a round bronze with a pull ring. It will tie in with the brown top and I think you'll have a winner.

  5. WOW!!! Love the walnut stained top. Looks like your heart knows what she's talking about! I only have 2 colors, and after painting so many pieces I want more ASCP colors! I am your newest follower. Visiting you from Shades of Amber. Hope you can visit me sometime too :)
