My "talking" table.....

As most of you know by now, I am in a frenzy preparing for the Grand Opening of "Restored~Home."
Although it is incredibly fun and exciting it is also exhausting....physically, emotionally, mentally....you name it.  Mostly because I am a "driven" sort of person (bordering on maniacal.....atleast occasionally) and I do not shift my focus very easily once I get ahold of something.....alas, that can be a "good/not so good" condition to have!  Today I am running on 3 hours of sleep simply because I should not have had a grande cinnamon dolce latte at 8pm last night cannot turn my brain off....I am bombarded by ideas/thoughts/plans, etc.......which brings me to the topic at hand....

"Talking Furniture"

I've heard of this phenomenon before but had not experienced it until yesterday.  As I was "shopping my house" for potential items to take to the shoppe I happened upon this little sideboard all alone in the corner of my living room.

I adore this little piece and I am not really sure why but I do and I have since I bought it a few months ago off of Craigslist.  I had planned to use it in my living room but really it is kind of just lost in there so I examined "her" for awhile and then scooped her up and drug her out to the workshop for a mini-makeover in preparation to be "Restored~Home" bound.....

I sat her down, dusted her off and was milling around for my P.O.C. (paint of choice) for her makeover...

Exhibit 1:

You may remember Marian referring to this product a few weeks ago.  I have yet to use mine but purchased it specifically for this table to get a chippy, aged finish.  Atleast, that was "the plan"....

I find said Milk Paint and was preparing to mix it (it comes in a powder form) when out of the blue I "hear" my little sideboard call to me to examine her once again.......
What, huh?  Milk Paint has been "THE PLAN" little one.....I promise you will be pleased when I am done.
But again, I stopped and just took in all of her detail...and she "spoke" to me loud and clear.......let me show you what I saw.....

Her curvy yet rustic type of legs.....(a bit like mine!  LOL)

Her rather aged patina.....nope, not going there....*smirk*

Dings and dents....

Worn, but beautiful.....

Character.....

It was very clear to me.......she "said" very little but she "spoke" volumns.....

I love her.....just the way she is.

So. she is ready for The Ball at "Restored~Home"!  She will get alittle "updo"....ya know, alittle wax and a buff.....but I think she is perfect......perfectly, imperfect..... and she tells a wonderful story.
Don't you think?

I have named her "Grace"........despite her obvious flaws she is destined for greatness and she actually provoked a spiritual experience for me...(ok reach with me here, remember I am the one with only 3 hours of sleep so give me a break, huh?)

I believe that is how God sees us....past our flaws, past our dings and dents and obvious imperfections......He sees our potential and He is pleased.....He simply loves us
"just the way we are."
Such a complete, all encompassing, unconditional love.......

I wonder, are you ready for "The Ball"?

Blessings Abundant.....

  5. I love painted furniture, but sometimes things with a lot of character look lovely just the way they are. Just like me, I'm sure she was a real beauty at one time. Lol! Every ding has a story. So glad that God and those who really know us love us for who we are. Good luck with the opening of your store. Thanks for visiting my blog. I would love to do a tutorial on my burlap curtains. Only problem, I bought them. Wish. I could say I made them. Would love to try some of that paint. Did you order it on line?
