Strippin' Saturday.....and a dilemma....

(there's no telling what kind of a google search I may end up in with that title but hey, I need more followers, right?!)

I've had a very productive Saturday! I am still forging ahead to the Grand Opening of "Restored~Home". We are only a few days out *yikes*.....that said, life remains pretty crazy around here with all the sewing, painting, shopping and.....strippin' goin' on.....
I bought this GO-orgeous French buffet on Craigslist last week.  She will be headed out to "Restored~Home" as one of my first available pieces.

She is in great shape and the original hardware is lovely.  I know you cannot really see it well here but the top had some water spots and a few rough areas so she got a good strippin' today and I fell in love with the wood that was revealed.

Just beautiful!

I use Min-Wax Dark Walnut as my "go to" stain...it always turns out nice.  But last week on my trip to Woodcraft one of the guys there recommended this product.

Have you seen it before?  Used it?
I chose "Spiced Walnut" because I prefer darker, true brown stains.

They recommended applying it with an old t-shirt.  I did the first coat like that but I felt like it took me longer to apply than my usual foam brush method so I opted for my trusty foam brush for coat number 2 and I think it turned out really nice.

Do you like?

After 2 coats it's a nice medium brown.  I think it looks alittle lighter here in the pictures. I like it!
I'll take a peek at her again tomorrow and decide if I want to go darker or if I will leave her alone.

The next step is this guy...

This is actually what I went looking for when I went to Woodcraft.  I have been using Min-Wax Polycrylic but it is not alot of fun to apply and it always seems kind of syrupy (is that a word??).....
I think rather hard to work with.
So Lance, my guy at Woodcraft......well, not "my guy", my guy is Mr. YBR....just keepin' it straight .......Lance, The Woodcraft Guy....*giggle*....told me about this product and said I would L.O.V.E  working with it!  I hope he is right because tomorrow may be the day I'll find out.  I'll keep you posted.  If anyone out there has used this before and you have any helpful tips....please send them my way...asap.

Now comes "the dilemma."........and I need YOUR help!  The top is mostly done and the hardware just needs to be cleaned up.....but I cannot decide on a color for the body!
Of course, it will be Annie Sloan Chalk Paint!
Seriously, was there any doubt!?  But what color?  Help!

Your choices are:

Old White

Paris Gray

Louis Blue

Duck Egg Blue

Old Ochre

Chime in and let me know what color you think I should use.  This is big stuff here!

Lots coming up this week!  Hold on to your hats.....it's about to get crazy (er) around here!
T minus 10 days......and counting.....

Blessings Abundant.....

Hmmm that is a hard one. First how much is your stain?? I LOVE that color! Secondly let me know how you like your top coat. I usually just use a wipe on poly rather than the brush on. Thirdly where is Woodcraft?? I need a guy too!;) Anyways, back to the color at hand.....it would all depend on what other colored furniture you have going on in your space. I say no to Louis Blue. Looks way too bright. I think Kim over at Savvy Southern Style did a piece in that color and then went back over it with a differ blue. I say do Paris Gray on the main parts and then highlight the doors and drawers with Old White! Yep that is what I would do! I can't wait to see it all done!!

I really love the Paris Gray, it's classy and a nice neutral at the same time. I would be too excited to wait!! I'm not a fan of two colored dressers, but a handpainted scroll or two in the corners crossing over a couple of doors would be pretty with old white, and then wax and stain?
